International Clown Week is celebrated each year during the week of August 1–7. Clown groups often celebrate the week with special activities.
Idaho Gem Jesters have these events planned for this year's Clown Week.
We will be;
-- Joining in on the festivities at the culmination of the Summer Reading Program at the Boise Main Library, Friday, August 1st, from 11am to Noon, twisting balloons, and face painting.
--going bowling in costume, Friday, August 1st, at the Nampa Bowl,
From 1:00pm 'til ??
--in the children's area for Kuna Days, Saturday, August 2nd, twisting balloons and face painting.
--celebrating National Night Out, Tuesday,
August 5th, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at the Islands Subdivision in Nampa.
Clown week was celebrated on a limited scale in the 1950's and 60's. On October 8, 1970, Clown Week became public law when it was passed by both the House and Senate of the 91st Congress and was sent to President Richard Nixon for his signature.
